The page yield or millilitre volume shown on the product pages of our toner and ink cartridges is an average yield value obtained under standardised laboratory conditions. Its purpose is to allow products to be compared on a consistent basis; it does not constitute a guarantee of minimum yield, since the actual result depends on how each customer uses the product.
1. Applicable standards
Yield values are determined in accordance with the international ISO/IEC standards, the benchmark recognised by manufacturers and industry bodies:
- ISO/IEC 19752 — method for determining the yield of monochrome toner cartridges (black-and-white laser printers).
- ISO/IEC 19798 — method for determining the yield of colour toner cartridges.
- ISO/IEC 24711 (method) and ISO/IEC 24712 (standardised test page) — yield of ink cartridges.
2. What "at 5% coverage" means
These standards measure how many A4 pages a cartridge can print using 5% coverage of the surface of each page (roughly the equivalent of a letter or a standard text document). For colour products, that 5% applies per colour on the standardised test page, so a colour test page is around 20% total coverage.
3. Why actual yield may vary
Actual yield depends directly on how much ink or toner is deposited on each page. The higher the coverage, the fewer pages: documents with images, photographs, colour backgrounds, graphics or dense text use more consumable per page and therefore reduce the number of pages proportionally compared with the stated value. Other factors (paper type, print-quality settings, printer power-up cycles, maintenance and print-head cleaning, and environmental conditions) also affect the result.
4. Indicative nature
For all of the above, the yield and capacity figures shown on our product pages are indicative and comparative, calculated in accordance with the ISO/IEC standards cited, and do not represent a commitment to a minimum number of pages for any specific use. We recommend using them as a reference to compare products and estimate approximate duration based on your usual type of printing.
